I do plan on playing though the next two visual novels of Grisaia, so hopefully they are talked about more and we get to know them more, because they are good characters, it’s just for them to play big roles as side characters they aren’t well know at this point. These may be little picks at these things, but I think I would understand certain actions done during the visual novel if I understood these side characters more. JB seems to care for Yuuji a lot and it shows during the good ending for Yumiko, but how did they meet, and has Yuuji and JB relationship always been this good? As for Chizuru she is the president of Mihama Academy, but how did she get saved by Yuuji and how long have they known each other. Asako is probably the one this applies to the least, but we still no very little about her. These characters aren’t bad, but we know very little about them and learn very little about them though this visual novel. The one problem I do have with characters in “The Fruit of Grisaia” isn’t with the writing of the main cast or the main cast at all it’s with three very important side characters to this story and that’s JB (Yuria Harudera), Chizuru, and Yuuji master (Asako). The same can be said about Yuuji as well, because when we enter a girl’s route we start to touch on his problems and we see him try to face them head on, and try to become a better person. This is the best part of the “The Fruit of Grisaia” because as you enter a girl route the more you find out about their problem, and slowly they start to attack their problems head on and this helps them grow as a character. Yuuji and the 5 other main girls have their own problems, and these problems are why they are at Mihama Academy.

When it comes to a great cast of characters “The Fruit of Grisaia” characters bounce off each other very well, and the more you play though the novel the more genuine it becomes. As for the characters own induvial story’s we will talk more about those in the character section.Īnother key factor in any medium is trying to tell a story with good characters, because if you have a good story but bad characters then it hurt the medium a lot, however in “The Fruit of Grisaia” the characters are great and well put together. (around 10 hours or so depending on how fast you read and such.) This can lead to you dropping the novel all together for this reason, but I suggest you don’t because the story is downright amazing. It takes a good amount of time before you really get to the meat and bones of Grisaia. The story of “The Fruit of Grisaia,” on the other hand is a little harder to tackle. The writing for “The Fruit of Grisaia,” gives you a little bit of everything you may hope to find in a visual novel. It has a great mix of comedy that doesn’t feel out of place, when you see characters talking to one another they give their own reasonings as to why they feel a certain way based on their experiences, characters have an impact on another character, and when it comes to the hard-hitting moments it’s as impactfully and meaningful and it really shows in the dialog. When it comes down to it the writing of “The Fruit of Grisaia,” is great and very well done. As Yuuji goes through his school life he will get close to these girls, find out why they are at Mihama Academy, and maybe find out what he is looking for in life. However, Mihama Academy is a school for special kids and before he transferred to Mihama there were already 5 other girl students, Sakaki Yumiko, Suou Amane, Matsushima Michiru, Irisu Makina, and Komine Sachi. The “The Fruit of Grisaia,” is about our main character Yuuji as he transfers to Mihama Academy in the hopes of having a “normal” student life. One of this most import things when it comes to any sort of medium is both the story and writing of said medium, and “The Fruit of Grisaia,” does an excellent job at that. Well he’s to the first of hopefully many other visual novels reviews and today we are going to be reviewing “The Fruit of Grisaia,” and before we get to far into it we are probably going to be talking about some spoilers, so if you haven’t gone through this visual novel or are going thought now I suggest you come back to this review after you have completed it.
